Photos: Africa's Disappearing Dragonflies, Fish, and Wildflowers

View the following pictures. Write a two-paragraph description of what you see. Be sure to use flowery (excuse the pun!) language - that is, plenty of descriptive words (adjectives, of course!). And if you are feeling extremely ambitious, you may write a short story that includes these images. Proofread and edit your paragraphs BEFORE you post your journal response.

  1. For example:

"One day a young woman ventured away from her African village and it was a journey that she would never forget. Lost in a sea of chocolate-colored water that fed luscious angelic white and sun-yellow flowers, she bravely waded into this watery kingdom owned by nature's greatest grip, losing herself in the moment - in the present, where what has been and what will be, well, each meshes together to become the ever-present moment of realization. As her human ego slowly eroded into a finely crafted element of oneness, she remembered her grandfather's last words: "Sometimes I have to believe that heaven is nothing more than a new pair of glasses." Perception, she thought, changes only when one loses himself or herself in a moment larger than humanity's greatest burden, the entitlement of self."
